DOORS BIFOLDS VS SLIDING DOORS

DOORS BIFOLDS VS SLIDING DOORS: HOW TO CHOOSE

If you’re in the process of buying a new home, you might have heard of a property survey but not fully understand what one is. It is a good way to prevent unexpected repair costs and will give you an idea of how much you might need to invest into your home once you move in. Here we will delve into the most comprehensive report – a structural survey, explaining what it is and why it’s important.

The view

When it comes to the good view of the neighbourhood or some natural vegetation or a scenic view or the view of your lawn sliding windows are more preferred because they provide you with a clear and a maximum view because it consists of a frame with big glass panels. But if you have a semi-covered terrace or a  lawn then we use bifold doors because they will create a connection of inside-outside space the reason behind it is that the 90% of the aperture is opened.

Space

Space will define which door system to be used if you have less space than sliding doors are recommended because they will save you floor space, but if u use bifold doors then negative spaces will be created in the house that’s not a good practice.

The access

Access is one of the major and critical elements of the house. Good and defined access represent a good and functional plan. If we want a connection of inside with the outside like a garden with a living or a connection of dinning with the lawn we use the bifold doors, but alternation can be done according to the weather of the area that is we you are living in a windy and cold area than an alteration is done in the bifold door and create an independent door which will be used for the ventilation.

When we use the sliding doors the connection is present with the outside but 50% of the area is openable which will work as a door or for ventilation. For windy or cold area sliding doors are more preferred because of the limited openable area

Materials

When we talk about the materials of both the doors the aluminium and wooden frames come on top. They both improve the aesthetics of the space and if you are renovation space than go for the matching frame materials. Aluminium gives you a modern look and requires less maintenance as compared to the wooden frames. Timber will be used if u need to give a natural look to the house. The selection of which type should be used depending on the client or on the designer. But when we do long-tern planning then aluminium frames are the best option as they require less maintenance.

Important note:

Before selecting the doors, you should consult experts and visit showrooms to ensure what’s best in your interest with respect to the quality, practicality or even strength.
